After being closed for 412 days, Disneyland and California Adventure reopened on April 30th. As they put it, "the magic is back."
This is the longest amount of time that Disneyland Resort has been closed. Of course, this was due to the coronavirus and the Resort closed in March 2020 at the same time as many other places and a Stay at Home Order was put in place.
Disneyland has only closed two other times in its history.
The first was the day after John F. Kennedy's assassination in November 1963. The second time was on September 11, 2001 after the terrorist attacks. Because of the time difference being on West Coast, Disneyland didn't even open that day (whereas Disney World in Florida had to close early). There is a third day that some people believe Disneyland was closed. This was in January 1994 after the Northridge earthquake. You might find conflicting information on whether the Park was closed or not, but some claim it opened as usual after thorough inspections of all the rides.
Since reopening at the of April, there have been capacity limitations to enforce social distancing, requirements to wear masks, and several entertainment aspects have been kept on pause to reduce the gathering of crowds. As California improves its testing and vaccination rates, things will slowly return back to normal. For example. today the capacity has been increased to 35% (previously 25%), and more indoor restaurants are set to open at the end of this month.
Do you plan on going anytime soon? Or will you wait until everything is back to normal?
